P2-Our Lady of Walsingham

Walsingham in Norfolk, with its miracle working image of the Virgin Mary, was one of the principal European pilgrim resorts, even eclipsing Canterbury in importance by the later 15th century. Mary's purity was symbolised by a lily and in many pilgrim badges this was represented in stylised form by the fleur-de-lys.

Original found in Salisbury.

15th century.
